Miss Rodeo North Dakota 2008 - Lindy Ellis

Lindy Ellis, Miss Rodeo North Dakota 2008Do you know any cowgirls who have started a rodeo club in high school, won music scholarships, and traveled to Europe?  Well you do now.  Miss Rodeo North Dakota 2008, Lindy Ellis, is the daughter of Harlan Ellis and Tim and Karen Hagen of Bismarck.  She was crowned at the PRCA Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo in October 2007. She won the speech, appearance, personality, scrapbook, and written test awards. This young lady has also held the titles of Miss North Dakota High School Rodeo 2003-2004, Miss Rodeo Prairie Rose 2005, and Miss Rodeo Mandan 2008.

When not competing in pageants, Lindy loves to compete in breakaway roping and barrel racing. She also enjoys activities such as basketball, soccer, cheerleading, and drill team.  One of Lindy’s greatest passions, however, is music.  Lindy gets her musical roots from her mom and dad who played in a band while she was growing up.  Lindy’s dad, the lead singer, played lead guitar and her mother played bass guitar.  Lindy has been singing ever since she could remember and she is often found singing at prestigious events throughout the state. Others have noticed Lindy’s talent and she was even awarded two music scholarships from two different colleges.

Although Lindy had experienced rodeo firsthand, she knew others at her high school didn’t have that chance.  Lindy wanted them to experience it and she also wanted a place for people with the same interests to be able to get together, set goals, and work towards them. This ambitious cowgirl decided her high school needed a rodeo club so she started the Bismarck High School Rodeo Club. Lindy’s peers then elected her to serve as president. She felt honored to know that she was educating people about rodeo and providing another place for those seeking to fit in.

Despite having traveled across the United States and all the way to Europe, Lindy knows her greatest adventures will come in her travels as Miss Rodeo North Dakota.  Lindy’s  goals include educating young people about North Dakota’s unique legacy and helping to preserve the great western heritage.

Miss Rodeo North Dakota Pageant Association is always looking for young women of exceptional character who are willing to lead by example as they further the sport of rodeo and promote the Western way of life with the utmost professionalism and sincerity.   Please visit  www.missrodeond.org for more information about becoming Miss Rodeo North Dakota.
